China Top Special Solidify Agent for Metal Primer Supplier?
Selecting a solidifying agent for a metal primer requires more than a strong datasheet claim. In practical trials, adhesion should be measured under ASTM D3359.
A 4B result means only small coating squares detach.
A 5B result shows no visible coating loss after cross-cut testing. These grades depend heavily on surface preparation, film thickness, curing time, and test operator technique.
Preparation matters most.
Steel panels should be degreased, lightly abraded, and cleaned before application. The primer must cure under controlled temperature and humidity. A small variation can change the cross-cut result.
I recommend testing several agent levels, rather than trusting one formula. Excessive solidifier may increase hardness but reduce flexibility. That weakness can appear during impact or thermal cycling.
Corrosion resistance needs a separate check.
ASTM B117 uses a 5% salt solution and continuous salt fog exposure. Inspectors should record blistering, rust creep, and coating delamination at defined intervals. Strong adhesion does not automatically ensure long salt-fog performance.
Edge protection, scribe design, and panel sealing can influence the result. Some laboratory results look excellent, yet production panels perform less consistently. That gap deserves investigation.
A reliable supplier should provide batch records, curing guidance, sample testing, and clear limitations. Independent verification remains wise.
